Airtricity League round-up:Sean O'Connor's late equaliser earned a share of the spoils for St Patrick's Athletic at the Showgrounds as the visitors eked out a 1-1 draw with leaders Sligo Rovers. O'Connor, who was introduced 58 minutes, made no mistake when it looked as if the home side might send the visitors to their first defeat.

Sligo went ahead in the 18th minute when Joseph Ndo’s corner kick ended up in the visitors net off a defender. But St Pats enjoyed the better possession and O’Connor struck with 10 minutes remaining, dispatching with his close-range header into the net.

The visitors missed a golden chance to take all three points on the stroke of full time when they were awarded a penalty but Rovers keeper Gary Rogers saved Christy Fagan’s effort.

There was another missed penalty in Tallaght where Shamrock Rovers failed to narrow the gap at the top of the table after being held to a 1-1 draw by Derry City. Rovers

A late header from skipper Alan McNally allowed Drogheda United to salvage a 1-1 draw with a young UCD side at the Belfield Bowl. UCD broke the deadlock against the run of play on 69

minutes through Ledwith. But Drogheda got their reward on 82 minutes when substitute Sean Brennan headed across goal for skipper McNally to nod home from close range.

Peter McMahon’s 70th minute strike secured Bohemians all three points as they won 2-0 against a disappointing Dundalk side at Oriel Park. The Bohs midfielder rounded off a wonderful team move by running on to Keith Ward’s back-heel to fire an unstoppable drive into Peter Cherrie’s top right hand corner to seal an impressive win for Aaron Callaghan’s side.

The Gypsies dominated possession in the first-half and they took a well deserved lead in the first half when Ryan McEvoy sidestepped Peter Thomas to slide the ball past Peter Cherrie. The home support were given some encouragement just past the hour mark when Dan Cunningham flashed a first-time effort just over the top but they were stunned when McMahon rattled the net with his effort.

And Vinny Sullivan scored twice as Cork heaped more heartbreak on Shelbourne at Tolka Park to earn their first away points of the season with a 2-1 win.
