‘Special visit at Melwood!’: Luis Suarez returns to Liverpool

Barcelona striker returns to his former club to watch Jurgen Klopp’s team train

Luis Suarez returned to Liverpool's training ground on Tuesday to reunite with former team-mates and watch Jurgen Klopp put his players through their paces.

The Barcelona striker spent the morning at Melwood, accompanied by his son Benji and daughter Delfina, and an Anfield source told the Liverpool Echo: "Luis is on holiday from Barcelona, and so has come to spend time with his old friends. Obviously we have relaxed the visitor regulations for him.

“He’s just chilling out in the canteen with his little girl and boy and will watch training.”

The Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho tweeted a short video of him greeting Suarez, saying: "Special visit at Melwood this morning!!"

Suarez signed for Barcelona in July 2014 for £75m, having scored 82 goals in 133 games for Liverpool.

He has since said he would not play for any other club in England. “If I was to return to England, it would be to play for Liverpool - not for any other team.

“I have missed the fans. Everyone that has played for Liverpool knows how important the supporters are. They know that they are in my heart.”
