Transfer deadline day round-up: Republic of Ireland forward Kevin Doyle has joined Queens Park Rangers on loan from Wolves until the end of the season.
The 30-year-old from Wexford trained with the the London club on Friday afternoon and is eligible to play in Saturday’s televised clash with Burnley at Loftus Road, a battle between the teams placed second and third in the Championship.
On his decision to join Harry Redknapp’s side, Doyle told the club’s website: “It was all agreed pretty quickly. I jumped at the chance to come here to be honest.
“The club’s in a great position for a tilt at promotion and I can’t wait to be part of it.
“It was a massive draw to know I’ll be part of a promotion push and obviously the manager played a huge role in my decision to come here as well.
“The squad here have enjoyed a really positive first half of the season and everyone is looking forward to tomorrow.
“It’s a big game and I’m just looking forward to hopefully being involved in some capacity.”
Redknapp believes the addition of Doyle will provide him with another decent option in attack for a side that has struggled in front of goal, having scored 33 goals, 18 less than Championship leaders Leicester.
“I like Kevin. He’s a good pro and a good lad who needs to get his career up and running again,” said Redknapp.
“He was a good player at Reading and my sides have played against him many times.
“This is a great opportunity for him. I like him a lot – he’s a good player and a good person. He’ll be a key addition to the squad.”
Doyle’s former Wolves team-mate Andy Keogh is also on the move, having gone on loan from Millwall to Blackpool, while David Connolly has gone to Oxford United on loan from Portsmouth.
There was very little business done amongst the top clubs in the Premier League , although Arsenal completed the loan signing of experienced Spartak Moscow midfielder Kim Kallstrom for the rest of the season.
The 31-year-old has made 108 international appearances for Sweden and played more than 400 club matches during spells in his homeland, France and Russia.
Kallstrom will now add England to that list, having joined the north Londoners on a loan until the end of the campaign.
“Arsenal is an amazing club with a lot of great players and a coach who has done really well here for a long time,” Kallstrom told Arsenal Media.
“I am so pleased to come here to learn as much as possible.
“I’m here to do my best for Arsenal and to help out the team, so we can achieve good results for the last part of the season.”
Kallstrom’s addition will help boost an Arsenal squad weakened by Aaron Ramsey’s injury setback.
The midfielder spent time with Hacken and Djurgarden before joining French club Rennes and then onto Lyon in 2006, where he won the Ligue 1 title twice as well as two Coupe de France crowns.
Having played at the 2006 World Cup and also three European Championships, he left for Spartak in the summer of 2012 and made 10 appearances this season before the winter break.
Kallstrom is eligible for Arsenal’s Champions League campaign and is an addition welcomed by Arsene Wenger.
“Kim Kallstrom is a hugely-experienced player,” the Arsenal manager said.
“He is a midfielder with proven quality at both club and international level. We welcome Kim to Arsenal.”
Wenger’s move came shortly after the Gunners dropped their interest in German winger Julian Draxler.
Leaving the Gunners is midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong, who has joined Championship side Barnsley in a permanent deal.
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has declared St Etienne defender Kurt Zouma his fourth and final signing of the January transfer window.
The 19-year-old has signed a five-and-a-half year contract at Stamford Bridge and will join up with his new team-mates at the end of the current campaign.
Zouma’s arrival follows those of Nemanja Matic, Mohamed Salah and Bertrand Traore and Mourinho said: “Job done.
“The last one in the transfer window. In almost every position we have the present and also the future.”
Dani Osvaldo’s ill-fated five-month stay at Southampton is over, with the Saints’ club-record signing joining Juventus on loan with a view to a permanent move.
Much had been expected of the 28-year-old after he swapped Roma for the south coast in August in a deal worth up to £14.6 million.
The Italy international penned a four-year deal but managed just 166 days at St Mary’s, with Saints cutting their losses after an altercation with team-mate Jose Fonte last week.

Meanwhile, the long-anticipated loan deal for Manchester United winger Wilfried Zaha to Cardiff has finally gone through.
The 21-year-old has joined the Bluebirds for the rest of the season and should get a chance to prove his Premier League quality after a frustrating six months at United.
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is still hoping Yevhen Konoplyanka’s transfer will go through but admits the deal is “a little complicated”.
The Reds have been in talks with Ukrainian club Dnipro over their winger, who is likely to cost around £16 million.
