Charge for an apparent elbow to the head of West Ham United’s Diafra Sakho

Crystal Palace captain Mile Jedinak was charged with violent conduct by the English FA on Monday for an apparent elbow to the head of West Ham United's Diafra Sakho.

The incident late in the second half of Saturday's Premier League clash at Upton Park was not seen by the match officials but was caught on video allowing the three-man disciplinary panel to deliberate.

West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce said Australia international Jedinak, who could be banned for four matches, deserved to be sent off. Palace won the match 3-1.

Palace manager Alan Pardew said earlier on Monday that he would be "surprised" if Jedinak faced any action for the challenge.

“I have seen worse where nothing has happened so I will be surprised if something happens,” said Pardew.

“But the media have highlighted it and we will have to see where it goes.”

The Australian has until Tuesday to respond to the charge.
