Four-time Champions League winner Clarence Seedorf has been interviewed for the managerial vacancy at Oldham.
Ex-Ajax, Real Madrid and AC Milan midfielder Seedorf, 41, was at SportsDirect.com Park on Thursday to discuss the post.
At this stage, it is believed he is just one of a number of candidates the League One club are considering for their post.
Seedorf retired three years ago to become head coach at his old club Milan but he was sacked after only five months as they failed to qualify for European football for the first time in 16 years.
He was last in charge of Chinese second-tier club Shenzhen FC but only managed another five-month stint before being replaced by Sven-Goran Eriksson.
Oldham are currently in the League One relegation zone having taken just seven points from their first 10 games, and they are on the hunt for a new boss having parted ways with John Sheridan earlier this week.
