Aiden McGeady rejoins Simon Grayson at Sunderland

Aiden McGeady has completed his move to Sunderland with the 31-year-old ending an unhappy spell at Everton by signing a three-year deal with the Championship outfit for a fee reported to be just short of €300,000.

McGeady, who moved to Everton in 2014 but never entirely established himself on Merseyside, spent last season on loan at Preston North End and, having done very well, had been expected to join the growing Irish contingent there until manager Simon Grayson moved to the Stadium of Light a couple of weeks ago.

McGeady always looked likely to follow him from that point on and after some reported wrangling over the terms of his deal, the arrival of the former Celtic and Spartak Moscow winger was formally announced on Thursday evening by the club's socal media. Sunderland have also confirmed the signing of former England youth international striker James Vaughan.
