Chelsea 3 Liverpool 2 (Chelsea win 4-3 on aggregate): Once again Liverpool threatened to pull of another heroic Champions League display against Chelsea but they were ultimately undone by the much-maligned Didier Drogba, whose two goals booked his side's ticket to Moscow to face Manchester United in the first all-English final.
After 90 minutes and two contrasting halves the teams were level through Drogba's 33rd minute strike and Fernando Torres' 64th minute effort.
Liverpool were then left to rue yet another defensive error, having conceded an own-goal in injury time of the first leg, when Sami Hyypia clumsily took Michael Ballack down in the box.
Frank Lampard calmly finished from the spot and when Drogba added another at the near post the game looked wrapped up with 15 minutes of extra-time remaining.
Liverpool, though, despite fading fast, ensured a nervy finish for the hosts when substitute Ryan Babel scored an audacious effort from all of 40 yards.
