Transfer news:Wolves manager Mick McCarthy insists striker Kevin Doyle "is going nowhere" before the current transfer window closes on tomorrow evening. Doyle has been linked with a move to Everton and the Republic of Ireland striker is currently out of the starting XI at Molineux.
But McCarthy concedes it would be "madness" to let his €8 million signing from Reading leave as his side prepare for tomorrow's home Barclays Premier League clash with Liverpool.
"Whether there is interest or there isn't interest in Kevin, it doesn't matter because he is going nowhere," McCarthy said. "I would really be crackers to sell Doyle with two days to go. I'm not crackers."
Doyle played a major part in Wolves surviving their first campaign back in the top flight two years ago but he has struggled to reproduce his best form since a knee injury meant he was sidelined for the final six weeks of last season.
Steven Fletcher has replaced him as McCarthy's first-choice striker.
Doyle's international team-mate Keith Andrews could be on McCarthy's radar, however, after he submitted a transfer request at Blackburn Rovers today. The former Wolves midfielder has spent some time on loan at Ipswich Town and the Portman Road boss Paul Jewell has confirmed his interest in signing the Dubliner.
Wigan Athletic are also believed to be interesed in the 31-year-old.
Liam Lawrence and Stephen Henderson could make sudden moves away from Portsmouth tomorrow if the financially stricken club is forced into selling players keen to escape the deepening financial crisis at Fratton Park.
Former Derry City defender Daniel Lafferty has signed for Burnley after a successful trial period. The left-back has joined on a two-and-a-half year deal.
Sky Sports, meanwhile, have claimed Lokomotiv Moscow have inquired about taking Anthony Stoke from Celtic to the Russian capital.
