Setanta Cup:It was a good night for League of Ireland clubs in the Setanta Cup with both Sligo Rovers and Shamrock Rovers winning big against opposition from north of the border, but it was Cork City who were first to book their place in the semi-finals.

Cork recorded a 3-1 second leg away win over Crusaders to add to their 1-0 win from the home leg. Despite spending much of the game on the back foot, Daryl Horgan and then Daryl Kavanagh got a goal each to ease the Leesiders into a 3-0 aggregate lead.

Paul Heatley got one back for Crusaders with a minute to go, before a David Magowan own goal added gloss to the scoreline for the Leesiders.

Premier Division champions Sligo put five past Glentoran in their quarter-final first leg at The Showgrounds.

Lee Lynch set them on their way in the second minute after being put through by Anthony Elding and the pair reversed roles 18 minutes later, as Elding headed home at the backpost.

David Cawley’s run and cross then allowed Ryan Connolly to finish from close range in the 36th minute and Lynch got his second two minutes later after good work from Connolly and Elding.

The fifth came after Joseph Ndo's ball into the box was converted by Evan McMillan on his debut.

Shamrock Rovershad a similarly easy ride of it at Tallaght Stadium against Linfield, where Ronan Finn, Ciaran Kilduff (2) and Stephen Rice.

Billy Joe Burns’s cracking strike in the 62nd minute was all there was to cheer for the visiting fans, who saw Barry Murphy deny their side from the penalty spot late on.

In the all-Airtricity League affair at the Brandwell, Derry Cityand Drogheda Uniteddrew 1-1 after Rory Patterson's 10th minute free-kick for the homeside was cancelled out by Declan O'Brien's strike in the 53rd minute.
