Cork City 1 St Patrick's Athletic 0: St Patrick's Athletic suffered their first league defeat of the season tonight as Cork City made up round on the Premier Division pacesetters.

Roy O'Donovan's clinical finish from the penalty spot midway through the second-half was enough to secure the points at Turner's Cross and it was no less than Damien Richardson's side deserved.

The home side enjoyed the majority of chances but were unable to make the breakthrough until O'Donovan latched on to a hopeful punt forward and was dragged down by Stephen Paisley. The defender saw red for his troubles while O'Donovan picked himself up and coolly dispatched the spot kick beyond Barry Ryan.
