Everton midfielder Lee Carsley has submitted a claim for wrongful dismissal to the FA following his red card against Chelsea yesterday.

The 32-year-old Republic of Ireland international was sent off by referee Rob Styles for a challenge on Didier Drogba during the 3-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge.

Everton manager David Moyes was disappointed with a number of refereeing decision during the game, including Carsley's red card.

"David felt the decision to send off Lee Carsley was unjustified and we fully support those sentiments," Everton chief executive Keith Wyness said.

An FA disciplinary commission will consider the claim on Thursday. PA
