The England centre-back is now fit again following an ankle problem, and is ready to make his first appearance since February 1 after sitting out Sunday's defeat at Manchester United to continue work at the training ground.

Philippe Senderos will be rested, while captain Thierry Henry will come back into the starting line-up. Freddie Ljungberg and Jose Antonio Reyes are also in contention again, but left-back Ashley Cole (ankle), Pascal Cygan (hamstring), and long-term absentee Lauren (knee) are all still out.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger also revealed that midfielder Cesc Fabregas will miss the game due to a foot injury.
