Manchester City's Joey Barton has been arrested for his part in the training-ground altercation with team-mate Ousmane Dabo.

Former manager Stuart Pearce suspended Barton (24) for City's last two games of the season after an alleged training ground fight with the Frenchman.

Dabo required hospital treatment and later spoke to police about the alleged assault.

A police spokesman confirmed: "A 24-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a Section 20 assault following an incident when a 30-year-old man was assaulted at Carrington."

Barton has been bailed until July 11th.

Manchester City players and Pearce - who was sacked on Monday after a disappointing campaign - could be interviewed about the incident.
