West Brom are believed to be interested in signing former Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves on a possible pay-as-you-play deal.

Albion coach Roy Hodgson has registered his interest in Hargreaves, who was released by United after a series of injury problems.

Hargreaves even posted videos of himself on YouTube last week to try and convince any would-be interested clubs of his fitness.

He made just 27 appearances in four seasons at Old Trafford, but that has not stopped Hodgson making enquiries about the feasibility of snapping up Hargreaves - and reactivating his Premier League career.

The former England international is keen to continue playing, but it remains to be seen whether Albion would be an attractive proposition to him, although Hodgson is a known admirer of his qualities.

Hargreaves looked destined for a golden career after being one of England's star players at the 2006 World Cup in Germany.

However, injuries have blighted the hopes of the 30-year-old building on that success with the Red Devils.

Albion are currently in the United States as part of their preparations for the new campaign.
