Mourinho gets the vote

Jose Mourinho insists he does not feel like the best coach in the world even though he has been hailed the number one for the second year running.

He has been named the world's best club coach by the IFFHA (International Federation of Football History and Statistics) for the second successive year, based on statistics and performance.

"In 2005 I won a championship, an English cup and reached the final stages of the Champions League - obviously I am happy with all this, but I am ambitious and I want to win more. It is for that reason I can say I do not feel like the best coach in the world," said Moiurinho.

Real want Fabregas

Real Madrid have confirmed their interest in signing Arsenal youngster Cesc Fabregas but the in-form midfielder is determined to repay coach Arsene Wenger for his faith in youth at Highbury.

Madrid president Fernando Martin says the club, turfed out of the Champions League last week by Arsenal, would be interested in landing Fabregas.

But Fabregas is in no mood to quit Arsenal before he has fully repaid the faith shown in him and the club's other young stars by Wenger.

"Arsene Wenger is a great manager who is always doing positive things for the youngsters. It is not easy for the boss to put so many youngsters in the first XI, it is a risk as well because you don't know if we will have enough experience to play against a team like Real Madrid.

"He has given us confidence and we have to take it and pay him back for what he is doing for us. I think we are doing well."

UCD in fixtures switch

UCD want to switch a number of their forthcoming premier division games to Saturday afternoons at 5.15pm. The first fixture to be moved will be against Bray, which will now be played on April 8th, a day later than originally scheduled.

The league ties against Shelbourne, Sligo Rovers and Longford Town have also been put back from the Friday evening to Saturday afternoon.

Le Guen capture hailed

David Murray claims the recruitment of Paul Le Guen has put Scottish football on the world map.

The former Lyon coach has agreed a three-year deal with the Glasgow club to succeed Alex McLeish for next season. The announcement of the appointment came soon after Murray revealed a deal with JJB Sports which will net the Ibrox club at least £48 million over the next 10 years beginning with an initial payment of £18million in June - just in time for the arrival of the club's new boss.

Murray said: "This is a big capture, not just for Rangers but for Scottish football. It gives us a much stronger identity as a nation in the game. This is a world football story. He could have gone anywhere and I think it is great credit to Rangers that he came here."
