Sligo Rovers continued their surge up the Premier Division table with an impressive victory over Bohemians at the Showgrounds on Saturday night. After a lack-lustre first half in which there were few incidents of note, the game exploded into life in the last 20 minutes as Sligo produced a storming finish.

Padraig Moran broke the deadlock in the 77th minute when he reacted sharply in a crowded goalmouth to apply the finishing touch to Nicky Reid's corner kick.

Reid got on the score-sheet himself six minutes from time with a blistering free kick from 25 yards, which flew into the roof of the net beyond the despairing dive of Dave Henderson.

Bohemians set the scene for a tense finish when the hard-working Graham Lawlor pulled a goal back in the 89th minute.

Sligo held on, however, for a win which puts them in contention for a place in European football next season.
