Selectors name regional squads

CRICKET:The North and South selectors have named 23-man training squads for this summer's RSA Inter-Regional series, which is due to get underway with a game at The Mardyke in Cork on Sunday June 3rd.

There are doubts over whether the venue will be able to host the game due to the amount of rain that fell in recent weeks, with Cricket Ireland set to make a decision this week.

In total, 22 of the players contracted to Cricket Ireland have been named in the squads, with Ed Joyce left out due to his commitments to Sussex. Niall O’Brien, who was left out of the tour to Kenya and the World Twenty20 qualifiers earlier this year after taking up a contract in the Bangladesh Premier League, is included in the South squad, while 11 Ireland under-19 players have been named between the two squads.
