The racing circus moves to the west coast for a couple of days, which should fit in easily with what in-form jockey Eddie Ahern has been listening to for the last 24 hours.

Ahern returns from Arlington, in Chicago, to ride at Ballinrobe. It might not be Santa Anita or Del Mar, but it can still provide a winner courtesy of Gandon.

Declan Gillespie's runner was edged out of a victory on his Dundalk debut by Goldnblues, but still showed up well and shouldn't be inconvenienced by the hike up to two miles for this evening's opener.

The nap, however, falls to another in-form young rider in apprentice Wayne Lordan. The Cork jockey rides Sea Leopard for Thomond O'Mara in the six-furlong handicap, and this horse looks like coming right back to form.

Sea Leopard won three on the bounce last year, at Cork and Killarney twice, the last time off a mark of 59. He wasn't setting the world on fire earlier this season, but he showed up well behind Barr Na Sraide at Killarney last week which suggests he is returning to form and is now off a mark of 55.

Sea Leopard's wins last season came at the mile mark, but he has form over this evening's course and distance and now looks set to strike.

Austin Leahy had a frustrating Killarney experience, saddling six runners-up, but one of those, Gatso, can make things right in the maiden hurdle, even if his run behind Punters Friend suggested he may not be a horse to trust totally.

Frances Crowley, in contrast, had a very successful Killarney which suggests now is the right time for Golden Spice to step up in trip for the nine-furlong handicap.

Golden Spice has mainly been running over seven furlongs, including a success at Dundalk in May, but he has stayed seven furlongs in soft going and is worth a bet that he will last further.

Peace Leader has ground to make up on Stylish Linda on Roscommon form behind Jumbo Beauty, but can successfully do so in the bumper, while the J P McManus-owned Clan Royal can follow up her Bellewstown win in the chase.
