Greg Rusedski and Tim Henman bowed out of the Munich Open with embarrassing straight sets defeats yesterday.

Top seed Rusedski, struggling with his usually efficient first serve, was knocked out 6-4 6-0 by little known German Oliver Gross in the first round. Fellow Briton Henman, the fourth seed, was equally helpless, falling 6-3 6-1 to unseeded Swede Tomas Nydahl in a second round match.

Rusedski said: "I played badly, . . . I couldn't get a first serve in."
