The only Irish captains to beat New Zealand – Donal Canniffe and Fiona Coghlan – will both take part in a tag rugby tournament this Saturday, July 25th in Donnybrook to raise funds for the family of Aoife Beary, one of the Irish students who was seriously injured in the Berkeley balcony collapse.
Canniffe led Munster to that a famous victory over the All Blacks at Thomond Park in 1978, while it's approaching the one-year anniversary since Coghlan's Ireland beat the Black Ferns at the World Cup in Marcoussis. Other former Ireland internationals Tony Ward, Ollie Campbell and Mick Quinn will be present.
The event starts with team registration – €25 per player with a €10 spectator fee – at 10.30am and runs until 6pm. To compliment the tag rugby there will be a BBQ, raffles and entertainment for children.
