Gloucester have signed Irish scrum-half Mike Prendergast on a two-year deal from French club Bourgoin.

The former Munster player, 29, will fill a gap in the Gloucester squad left by Haydn Thomas' departure to west country neighbours Bristol.

Gloucester head coach Dean Ryan said: "Mike has plenty of experience and will enhance our scrum-half options greatly.

"He is a different type of player to the other nines at the club, and I look forward to him challenging them to be first choice."
