Rugby:Irish captain Brian O'Driscoll is already talking about making a comeback following the operation on his shoulder.
The 32-year-old outside centre, who carried the injury with him into the recent World Cup in New Zealand, will be out of the game for approximately six months.
After struggling with the problem for some time, he announced last week that he would have an operation to correct the issue and as a result would miss the majority of the season for Leinster as well as Ireland's entire Six Nations campaign.
O’Driscoll and the medical staff in Leinster are pleased with the way the operation turned out and yesterday Leinster Coach Joe Schmidt said that his most capped player has already being talking about his rehabilitation
"He’s really happy. The medical staff are really happy. It went really well,” said Schmidt ahead of Leinster’s Heineken Cup match against Glasgow on Sunday in the RDS.
“I just tried to give him a call before I came down here. I was going to see how he was feeling but I couldn’t get hold of him so. I’ll see him Sunday maybe and I’ll certainly talk to him some time today.
“He’s in good spirits and is already talking about rehab. I don’t know how soon he can start that. But that the nature of him,” added the coach.
“He’s pretty determined that he is going to be as good as ever.”
It was speculated that the operation would spell the end of O'Driscoll's career but the Grand Slam winner is determined to return and has next summer's three-Test tour of New Zealand as incentive.
