Scarlets centre Scott Williams has been released from Wales’ Autumn Nations Series squad.

The 31-year-old, who won the last of his 58 caps in 2019, was called up as cover for Cardiff's Willis Halaholo.

Halaholo tested positive for coronavirus and went into isolation, ruling him out of Wales’ autumn Tests against New Zealand and South Africa.

“The Cardiff Rugby midfielder has linked back up with the national squad, with Williams now returning to his region,” the Welsh Rugby Union said on its official website.

Halaholo will not be involved against Fiji on Sunday, but Wales head coach Wayne Pivac added: "He is now back in full training.

“But when you are stuck inside for 10 days and with the illness as well, it takes a few days to recover from a medical point of view, and then you have to get the volume back into his body.

“These guys are finely-tuned. We don’t want to risk him this weekend, but he will certainly be available for next weekend (against Australia).”
