Johnnie Beattie called up to Scotland Six Nations squad

Vern Cotter had said he’d add to squad after final European fixtures with Castres player impressing

Castres number eight Johnnie Beattie has been added to Vern Cotter's Scotland squad ahead of next month's RBS Six Nations kick-off in Paris.

The 29-year-old back-row, who scored a try in his club's European Champions Cup defeat to Harlequins on Saturday, arrived at the team hotel on Sunday ahead of the Dark Blues' three-day camp at the Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility in Motherwell.

Cotter named a 33-man squad last week ahead of the February 7th opener with France but said then that he would look to add to it after the final round of European pool-stage fixtures.

The Scotland medical team have also provided an update on the players involved in action over the weekend.
