Injured centre Matt Giteau has joined the Wallabies squad training for the first test against England, the Australian Rugby Union has confirmed.

The 23-year-old Giteau had been omitted from the 33-man squad due to a knee injury and is still very doubtful for the first of two tests against the world champions on June 11th in Sydney.

"At this stage it's probably unlikely that I'll be ready to play next week but we'll see how it responds to some training before making a call on it," Giteau said.

Australia coach John Connolly is not expecting Giteau to be fit. "We're reviewing him today but it's very unlikely that he'll be available," Connolly said.

Australia face England in a second Test on June 17th before hosting Ireland a week later on the 24th.
