Rugby:British & Irish Lions head coach, Warren Gatland, is to undergo a minor operation later this week. The elective procedure is part of his ongoing rehabilitation programme as he continues to recover from a foot injury sustained in New Zealand earlier this year.

The operation to his right heel, which was broken in an accident when he fell off a ladder, will see Gatland enter hospital on Friday. The procedure will entail treatment to an area of damaged and blistered skin. It is expected he will spend a few days in hospital after the procedure.
