John Fogarty has been drafted into the Ireland camp ahead of Sunday’s clash with Australia amid renewed concerns over Jerry Flannery’s fitness. Flannery, who has been struggling with a calf injury, was able to take a limited part in training this morning.

However, with doubts persisting over the Munster hooker’s availability the Irish management saw fit to pull Fogarty out of tonight’s Ireland A international against Tonga.

Should Flannery be ruled out, Connacht’s Sean Cronin is likely to start against the Wallabies with Fogarty providing cover on the replacements bench.

Fogarty’s withdrawal from the ‘A’ side will see his brother Denis start at Ravenhill this evening (7pm kick-off) while Ulster’s Andy Kyriacou has been called up to the match day squad.
