D’Arcy to miss Leinster’s cup final double bid

Gordon D’Arcy will miss both of Leinster’s season-ending cup finals and is highly unlikely to go on the Ireland’s summer tour to the United States and Canada due to a calf muscle tear.

The centre suffered a recurrence to the injury during the RaboDirect Pro12 play-off against Glasgow Warriors last Saturday and a scan has shown up a tear that will rule him out of next Friday’s Amlin Challenge Cup decider against Stade Francais and the Pro12 final against Ulster on Saturday week.

Brian O’Driscoll did not train on Tuesday with the squad as he has been told to rest his back after suffering spasms during the victory over Glasgow.

Leinster say the Lions player has “a good chance” of being available to face Stade and they also expect Seán O’Brien to fully recover in time after he missed the Glasgow game with a calf injury.

Dave Kearney returned to full training after the concussion he suffered against Munster.

Leinster captain Leo Cullen received stitches to a cut above his right eye but finished the Glasgow game, while Kevin McLaughlin received a bruised eye following an accidental collision with team-mate Fergus McFadden.

McFadden also received treatment after receiving a kick in his right knee which is not thought to be serious enough to keep him out of contention.

Ireland hooker Richardt Strauss also received treatment on a knee injury, but the Leinster medical team are also confident that he will be available for selection
