Four League of Ireland games, including Derry City’s title-impacting game against Sligo Rovers, and Ulster’s game against Edinburgh in the Hive Stadium have been postponed due to Storm Amy.
Initially due to the storm, Ulster’s kick-off time was brought forward a little over an hour from its original slot of 8.05pm. The fixture will be rescheduled for a later date.
“We were set to welcome a capacity crowd for tonight’s game,” said Edinburgh managing director Douglas Struth.
“However, the safety of supporters, players, partners, and everyone associated with this weekend’s fixture is of the utmost importance so, while disappointing, it is absolutely the right decision to postpone tonight’s game considering the escalating weather reports overnight.

“This decision has not been taken lightly. We have worked closely with the URC, Scottish Rugby, the Met Office, and local authorities to ensure it is the best-informed choice.”
Derry City’s match against Sligo Rovers this evening at the Brandywell, which could have given the League of Ireland Premier Division title to Shamrock Rovers if they had failed to win, has been postponed.
“This decision has been taken in conjunction with DCSDC, PSNI, Irish Red Cross, and both clubs. The fixture will now take place on Sunday, October 5th at 4pm. All tickets for the original fixture will remain valid for the new date,” Derry City said on social media.
Waterford’s game against Drogheda United in the Premier Division has also been postponed until Sunday at 4pm. In the First Division Treaty United against Longford Town has been postponed, as has Wexford’s game against UCD.
