Finn Harps continued their good start to the season on Saturday night against Shamrock Rovers who were unlucky to concede a late own goal at Ballybofey.

Rovers' Paul Whelan had a goal disallowed for offside in the 10th minute and then rattled the post in the 45th. Brian Morrisroe also went close with a free.

However, it was Harps who broke the deadlock when James Mulligan turned in Tom Mohan's cross at the start of the second half.

Rovers equalised through Derek Tracey in the 61st minute thanks to a well-worked free kick. Neither side looked like scoring until the 83rd minute when Jason Colwell turned Eamonn Kavanagh's corner into his own net. It was a cruel blow for Rovers who deserved better.
