Tony Martin hopeful of getting Bog Warrior to Cheltenham

Tony Martin doesn't care what race Bog Warrior runs in at Cheltenham as long as his pride-and-joy manages to line up at the festival.

Bog Warrior hasn’t been seen in action since finishing fifth to Solwhit in last season’s World Hurdle where he looked a winner into the straight only to fade with a leg injury.

The former Grade One winning chaser has an entry in the World Hurdle again, but also the Gold Cup for which he is as low as 33/1 with Paddy Power. "It doesn't bother me which one he goes for, just so long as I can get him there. He's back in work and might be up running towards the end of the month. The next month will be crucial with him, but I'd love to get him back," said Martin who has never hidden his admiration for the Gigginstown Stud owned star.

Willie Mullins indicated over the weekend that the Arkle favourite Champagne Fever could be allowed run over a longer trip at the festival leaving his stable companion Felix Yonger for the two mile feature.

“On the formbook Felix Yonger beat Defy Logic and Champagne Fever couldn’t,” he said. “Champagne Fever can easily go out to two and a half miles and could even go out to three. He’s such a fantastic jumper he can win over two miles and that’s why I’ve been campaigning him up to now over two miles,” Mullins added.
