Listed Corrib Stakes bid ideal for Queen Nefertiti

The David Wachman-Wayne Lordan team picked up Tuesday's big handicap with Hint Of A Tint and can now secure Galway's black-type prize through Queen Nefertiti.

The Listed Corrib Stakes’ seven furlong trip looks ideal for this Galileo filly who faded in the closing stages of the Meld Stakes behind Carla Bianca over nine furlongs.

Prior to that she was third in the Brownstown Stakes, over seven at Fairyhouse and showed well in an honourable 1,000 Guineas effort behind her stable companion Legatissimo.

Dermot Weld's Magic Kitten hasn't been seen in action since early-May when springing a 20-1 surprise on heavy ground at Gowran off a mark of 53. The three year old sneaks into the bottom of today's mile and a half handicap off just 8lbs higher and his 17 opponents could have their jobs cut out to keep tabs on him.

Weld sets a poser in the mile handicap with his stalwart festival performer Rock Critic, winner of this race all of four years ago, back for another crack at it off an almost identical mark to 2011.

But preference is for the topweight Champagne Or Water who scored narrowly at the Curragh last time when there was seven lengths back to the third.

The in-form Jessica Harrington can strike in the novice chase with Rock The World. In the novice hurdle Willie Mullins looks to have yet another fine prospect in Gangster, a half brother to no less than Rite Of Passage, who impressed on his Irish debut at Roscommon.
