Brown Panther to be commemorated with race at the Curragh

2014 Irish St Leger winner died after picking up injury during 2015 edition of the race

Brown Panther is to be commemorated at the Curragh with a race named in his honour.

The Tom Dascombe-trained stayer won the Irish St Leger at the track in 2014 but lost his his life when attempting a repeat win in the same race last September.

The race in which Brown Panther will be remembered is a Listed event over 12 furlongs on October 9th.

Part-owner and breeder Michael Owen said: "It was an honour to own and breed Brown Panther.

“He was a wonderful horse and to lose him was heartbreaking.

“His greatest triumph was at the Curragh so I’d like to thank them for this tribute in his memory.”
