Presentation defence resists pressure to build platform for success

SCHOOLS RUGBY - Munster Senior Cup/PBC Cork...6 CBC Cork...5: Christian Brothers College, Cork, dominated this Coca Cola-sponsored Munster Schools' Senior Cup semi-final and scored the only try of the game but still lost.

Presentation Brothers, who also contained an O'Gara and Stringer in their line-up, must have taken note of Ireland's aggressive defence policy at Lansdowne Road and they will be pleased about that.

The difference from that game was that they didn't have much by way of attack because they were deprived of possession by tenacious opponents. Presentation spent most of the game inside their own territory but still managed to win the match because of their solid defensive prowess.

Paul Hurley scored a try for Christians three minutes into the game and they held on to that lead until two minutes into the second half.

Presentation finally launched a meaningful assault and were unlucky not to score a try before referee Dermot Maloney awarded them a penalty. Barry Keeshan got the points and then added another penalty six minutes into the half.

That proved to be the last Presentation attack but they held out under increasing pressure to squeeze their way through to the decider.
