Portugal coach Antonio Oliveira insists there will be no complacency from his side in tonight's World Cup Group Two qualifier against Cyprus.
Portugal, currently second in Group Two, three points behind the Republic of Ireland but with a game in hand, thrashed Cyprus 6-0 at home in June.
Oliviera is set to field a full-strength side against the Cypriots, including Real Madrid midfielder Luis Figo, who missed the June game due to suspension.
Portugal should win the group and qualify automatically for the 2002 finals in Japan and South Korea by winning their final two games and relying on their superior goal difference.
"We are playing away against a team which has enjoyed some upset wins in the past and we have to be very careful," Oliveira said yesterday from Limassol, where his team is preparing for tonight's match in Larnaca.
Cyprus have just two wins over Andorra and two draws against Estonia to show for their qualifying campaign, but their shock 3-2 win over Spain at home in 1998 which led to the resignation of then Spanish coach Xavier Clemente, will still be fresh in Portuguese minds.
The Cypriots are not playing up their chances very much, though, with their domestic season yet to begin.
"It is a fact that there are tremendous difficulties lying ahead of us and we have to give our utmost," said Takis Charalambous, the coach appointed after Stavros Papadopoulos quit in the wake of the June defeat.
Charalambous has called up Cypriot players in the Greek league for tonight's game, including Michalis Constantinou, who transferred from Iraklis to Panathinaikos this summer.
Holland coach Louis van Gaal, meanwhile, has hit out at KNVB director Henk Kesler for cancelling next April's friendly against Brazil.
The April 17 game has been called off as the costs of accommodating the Brazilians is outside the Dutch budget, due to their near-certain failure to qualify for next year's World Cup.
"I always hear and read that I am ruling this team on my own, but apparently that is not true," said Van Gaal, whose job is thought to be under threat.
"If you look at the organisation structure within the KNVB, you can expect things like this.
"The director is higher on the ladder than the coach, but I doubt that this is good management.
"He should discuss these matters with me. I am not happy with this decision as this would be the kind of game for the players to learn from."
The KNVB would have had to pay for all flight tickets, plus accommodation, food and drinks, and it has been suggested they also want to switch the matches against France and Spain away from Holland to save money.
"You will have to ask Mr Kesler about that," said Van Gaal.
"I just think it is not very professional that this news reached the media at this point."
