Play has resumed at the Irish PGA, seven hours after rain brought a halt to the second round at the European Club in Co Wicklow.

Little more than 90 minutes play was possible this morning before the early starters were called in, meaning a mere 16 players out of 50 had hit a second round ball.

However, with rain in the area subsiding it is hoped all players will get out on the course this afternoon and evening.

Overnight leader Padraig Harrington (five-under), is now due on course at 7pm and will play as long as the light and weather permits. Brendan McGovern (three-under) and David Higgins (two-under) the only other players under par.
