Irish Racing News: The former King George and four-time Hennessy Gold Cup winner Florida Pearl has been officially retired.

Willie Mullins's stable star missed out on one last attempt at the Cheltenham Gold Cup in March because of injury and the decision was taken to retire him.

Yesterday Florida Pearl was paraded at Galway where he again met up with Adrian Maguire who rode him to win the 2001 King George from Best Mate.

Florida Pearl ran 33 times in his career, winning 16 times, including nine Grade One races.
