Celtic ... 1 Partick Thistle ... 1 AET. Celtic won 5-4 on penalties Celtic survived a massive scare last night to go through to the last four of the Scottish League Cup after penalty drama at Parkhead.

Paul Lambert's header three minutes before the break put the champions on course for the last four.

But the home side paid the ultimate price in the 50th minute when the visitors scored a surprise equaliser. The Celtic defence were fast asleep as Britton clipped the ball into the danger area and Alex Burns was the quickest to react to prod the ball home from close range.

In the penalty shoot-out, Lambert put his side behind after having his first penalty saved by Arthur, but Burns, Hartson, Derek Whyte and Petrov made no mistake.
