Jamaican 100m sprinter Yohan Blake will take part in the Morton Games in Santry this Friday afternoon.
The organisers announced on Tuesday morning that the 2011 World champion will be the main attraction for the AON Men’s International 100m race.
Blake is the second fastest man in the world, sharing that honour with American Tyson Gay, just 0.11 seconds behind his compatriot Usain Bolt.
In the 2012 London Olympics he finished second in both the 100m and 200m races, again behind Bolt in both, and won Olympic gold with Jamaica on the 4 x 100 relay team.
In August of that year he ran his 100 PB an unbelievable 9.69, this tied him for the second fastest 100m ever. He also holds the second fastest time ever, 19.25, for the 200m distance.
The pre-programme for Friday’s Morton Games will commence at 5.30pm, the international programme at 7.00 pm, while Blake and co get underway at 7.36 pm.
Organisers are advising patrons to pick up their tickets early; "The strong advice to athletics fans is to get to the stadium early on Friday."
