Ryan Mullen retained by An Post Chainreaction team

Irish road race champion had options with other teams

The An Post Chainreaction Seán Kelly team has confirmed that it will retain the services of Ryan Mullen in 2015, despite the advances of other teams after he finished second in the world under 23 time trial championships in September.

Mullen, who won the Irish road race championships in June and also became the national under-23 TT champion, had options elsewhere but decided that remaining with the Irish team for another season was the best option at this point in his career.

He will be guided by general manager Kurt Bogaerts, who has helped him progress to the point he is at now.

“I’m really happy to stay with An Post,” said Mullen, who was also seventh in the Tour of Britain time trial. “It’s been a great year for me and that’s down to the experience I’m getting with the team and the guidance from Kurt.

“I’m really keen to further progress my development on the road and the team’s programme is perfect for this so I’m really looking forward to just getting started again.”

Also staying put are fellow Irishmen Jack Wilson, Sean Downey and Conor Dunne, while Eoin McCarthy is coming on board.
