Ireland’s Liam Jegou takes silver medal at Junior World Championship

Canoeist opens season with first podium finish in Australia

Ireland's Liam Jegou claimed the silver medal in the C1 class at the International Canoe Federation Slalom Junior World Championships in Penrith, Australia on Sunday

Having qualified for the finals in sixth place, Jegou went on to take the silver medal in this morning’s race, just losing out to German Florian Breuer.

The 2014 championship is Jegou’s third time to make the junior final in this event, and represents his first time on the podium.

The Junior World Championships is the start of this season’s international racing series and Jegou will look to keep up his fine performance as goes on to compete in the Junior World Cup.
