Fionnuala Britton out for hat-trick of titles in Antrim

She's already edged her way back onto the podium, and Fionnuala Britton is now looking to return to winning ways at tomorrow's Antrim International Cross Country in Greenmount.

Britton has won this race for the last two years, on both occasions on the back of winning the European Cross Country. Now, after surrendering those titles by finishing fourth in Belgrade last month, the Wicklow athlete is looking to make some amends, especially given one of her competitors tomorrow is Britain’s Gemma Steel, who won silver in Belgrade.

In the meantime she’s perhaps made up for some of her disappointment in Belgrade, with her third-place finish at the IAAF Lotto Cross Cup in Brussels, just before Christmas.

If Britton is to make it a hat-trick of titles in Antrim then the athlete to beat will be Bahrain's Maryam Jamal, a world champion on the track.
