Patrician, Newbridge 0-5 St Patrick's, Cavan 0-2: They had the benefit of the strong breeze for the opening half and took the lead with an Eoin O'Sullivan point in the fifth minute.

They were three points clear by the time Enda Gaffney opened St. Patrick's account at the start of the second quarter and led 0-3 to 0-2 at half-time.

The visitors were much improved in the second half but, despite enjoying territorial supremacy, they found it difficult to score.

Newbridge added two points to their tally in the second half and defended well for the remainder of the afternoon as St Patrick's chased an elusive goal.
