The organising committee of the Olympics, SOCOG, have accused the national Olympic committees of the US, Switzerland, Spain, Venezuela and Russia of selling tickets to scalpers. SOCOG have reported the alleged offences to the International Olympic Committee. Lawyers for SOCOG bought the tickets on the street from scalpers and were able to prove the tickets had originally been sold to the national Olympic committees.
