The Limerick County Board are exploring every possible avenue to raise £8 million for their proposed facelift of the Gaelic Grounds and among those circulating as possible candidates for fund-raising has been JP McManus.

McManus held a golf classic in Limerick this summer which raised over £10 million for local charities and it has been suggested that he could now be asked to come to the assistance of the Limerick board. While they expect to be grant-aided to the tune of £3 million, they also need to raise additional funds themselves.
