Arthur Moore is undecided about running King Johns Castle in Saturday's Red Square Vodka Gold Cup at Haydock but he did indicate yesterday that his star two-miler Mansony will take his chance in Cheltenham's Queen Mother Champion Chase.
The double Grade One winner struggled into third in the Victor Chandler Chase at Ascot on his last start but the Naas trainer said yesterday: "We will make a definite decision at the weekend but we are leaning towards running him at Cheltenham."
Mansony is a general 20 to 1 shot for the Champion Chase.
King Johns Castle, runner-up to Mister Top Notch in the Leopardstown Chase last month, could yet join Point Barrow in Haydock's €168,000 feature although Moore will postpone a final call until today.
"The weights look like they will go up and it is a race that usually favours those at the lower end of the handicap. We will have to see," Moore said.
Ruby Walsh teams up with Candy Girl when Willie Mullins's mare makes her fencing debut in the second Beginners Chase at Thurles today. High class over hurdles, Candy Girl should have the speed to win a race like this if putting in a competent round of jumping.
Jessica Harrington's string is running into form and in that light Got Attitude looks to hold a major chance in the opening maiden hurdle after a good run behind Our Bob at Naas. Dermot Weld's Teach Nua is an interesting newcomer in the last while Whatever Next looks the pick in the second maiden hurdle.
