Monaghan SFC Final/ Clontibret 1-8 Magheracloone 0-8: A more balanced Clontibret deservedly took their 12th senior football championship title at the expense of Magheracloone in Clones yesterday.

A goal by Conor McManus, one of the youngest players on the field, in the 10th minute of the first half was the score that ultimately separated the sides although Magheracloone can look back on a number of missed opportunities that could have left it closer.

McManus's goal put Clontibret four points in front at that stage after they got off to much the better start.

Scorers, Clontibret: D Mone (0-1), C McManus (1-1), M Hughes (0-2), V Corey (0-1), N Morgan (0-2), F Mone (0-1). Magheracloone: T Freeman (0-6), D Freeman (0-2).

Referee: B McMahon (Eire Óg).
