In wet and windy conditions, Sandford Park prevailed with hooker Niall McGrath the main driving force behind their victory at Station Road yesterday.

A blistering break for McGrath on 20 minutes saw Sandford just yards short of the Portmarnock line and when the ball eventually came out, number eight Finbarr Hayes went over on the right.

McGrath got four tries in a one-sided second period with Amir Alipour and Bob Collins also adding to the rout.
