St Patrick's Navan 1-9 Coláiste Eoin 1-8:James McEntee's 60th -minute point helped St Patrick's Navan overcome an unfortunate Coláiste Eoin by the narrowest of margins in their absorbing semi-final in Ratoath on Saturday.
Meath minor McEntee’s contribution was immense as he hit four points from play following his introduction in the 21st minute.
The fine margins that decide contests were reflected in the awarding of a goal to St Pat’s in the 49th minute when Cathal Ó Dualacháin appeared to have cleared Robert Keeleghan’s fisted effort to safety, but the umpires quickly awarded the goal.
In the opening half, Con Ó Ceallacháin, Colm Ó Néill, the excellent Colm Ó Cróinín and Eoghan Ó Naoire all pointed from play to ensure a deserved 0-6 to 0-4 interval advantage.
Ó Cróinín’s withdrawal with a hamstring injury proved a blow and St Pat’s restored parity by the 32nd minute thanks to Niall Lyons and McEntee.
Cillian Ó Seanáin’s superb goal put Coláiste Eoin in front, but Keeleghan’s controversial goal levelled matters before McEntee hit the winner.
