Martin Pipe is one short of 100 winners for the season after French import Enipeus raced away with the Wickham Novices' Hurdle at Fontwell yesterday.

The chestnut, who also provided Tony McCoy with his first winner back after a six-day whip ban, turned the event into a procession from the fourth flight onwards, and was 30 lengths clear approaching the home bend.

Enipeus made a complete mess of the second last hurdle but he survived and nine lengths to spare over runner up High Game.

Jockey Philip Hide notched a 21 to 1 double with Pagasonic and Mr Jervis.

Belgian import Pagasonic led at the last flight in the opener to beat Lord of Love by seven lengths in the Fareham Juvenile Novices' Hurdle.

Hide completed his brace when Mr Jervis took it up setting out on the final circuit and hung on by half a length from La Brigantine in the Selsey Novices' Chase.

The Venetia Williams stable kept up its relentless gallop with Effectual, partnered by Norman Williamson, in the Portsmouth Handicap Hurdle, following the triumph of the yard's Fortria Rosie Dawn at Leicester.

Effectual's all the way win by a distance over Galant Moss meant that the Hereford outfit has recorded eight winners from 17 runners in the last fortnight.

Riot Leader completed a hattrick in the Amberly Novices' Handicap Chase and booked his ticket for the National Hunt Chase at the Cheltenham Festival.

Tom George's gelding led three fences out in the three and a quarter mile plus marathon to beat Satcotino by 25 lengths.

Riot Leader was ridden by Kildare amateur Kevin O'Ryan, who should be aboard Riot Leader at the Festival.
